Timber‑Hill River is a piece of prairie and river ground in Barber County, Kansas. We’re building an ecology that can support as many bee species as this place can hold—native, feral, and rescued colonies that would otherwise be lost.

Feral rescues: Colonies pulled from buildings, trees, and old structures and given a new home.

Native species: Wild bees that use the land, plants, and river corridor.

Working apiary: Managed hives that help stabilize the refuge and produce honey when the year allows.
This is mixed prairie, river bottom, wind, heat, and winter. We plant, protect, and leave alone where needed so the bees have forage, shelter, and space to exist without being pushed out.
